Kamoto Copper Company (KCC SA), a leading copper and cobalt producer in Kolwezi, Democratic Republic of Congo, is seeking an experienced Underground Mining Manager to support its world-class underground and open-pit operations within one of the globe’s largest copper reserves.
As the Underground Mining Manager, you will drive safe, efficient, and cost-effective underground operations while ensuring the mine plan and schedules are executed to the highest standards. You will champion a high-performance culture, oversee work planning and execution systems, mentor operational leaders, challenge technical designs, and guide equipment selection and optimization. The role is pivotal in bringing innovation, strengthening operational discipline, and supporting continuous improvement across the underground mining division.
• Demonstrate visible safety leadership and enforce compliance with HSEC standards
• Ensure operational discipline through the consistent application of underground mining best practices and safe work systems
• Support planning and execution of mining activities to meet production, safety, and quality targets
• Coach and mentor superintendents, supervisors, and teams to build technical capacity and leadership strength
• Contribute to implementing best-practice mining systems such as Short Interval Control, shift planning, and performance management
• Identify operational inefficiencies and support continuous improvement and change management initiatives
• Assist in audits, reviews, and incident investigations, driving timely closure of findings
• Promote strong communication and teamwork across crews, shifts, and departments
• Monitor operational metrics and support action plans for sustained productivity, safety, and cost performance
• Uphold company values, ethics, and responsible decision-making
• University degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in underground metalliferous mining, including supervision or superintendent roles
• Proven success leading change and innovation in mechanized underground mining environments
• Experience deploying technologies such as automated fleets, electronic blasting, fleet/shift management systems
• Strong background in best-practice mining systems (Short Interval Control, production optimization, daily review processes)
• Deep understanding of underground mining methods, equipment utilization, and shift execution
• Demonstrated coaching and team-development capability
• Strong knowledge of risk management, safety systems, and continuous improvement
• Excellent leadership presence, communication skills, and decision-making ability
• High resilience, autonomy, and commitment to operational excellence
