Jumbo Operator

Barrick Mining Corporation is seeking experienced Jumbo Operators to join its underground operations at Kibali Gold Mine, located in Haut-Uélé Province, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a world-class gold mining project and contribute to safe, efficient, and sustainable underground mine development at one of Africa’s leading mining operations.

As a Jumbo Operator at Kibali Gold Mine, you will be responsible for operating multi-boom Jumbo Drill Rigs to achieve underground development targets while installing ground support to the highest quality and safety standards. The role demands a strong safety culture, technical expertise, and a results-driven mindset aligned with Barrick’s core values and commitment to Zero Harm.

• Operate Jumbo Drill Rigs for underground mine development safely and efficiently

• Achieve underground development and production targets in line with mine plans

• Assess work areas, ground conditions, and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards

• Optimize drill patterns to achieve maximum advance per round with minimal overbreak

• Achieve a minimum full advance of 3.5 m per cut

• Mark up faces in accordance with geological, survey, and statutory specifications

• Install ground support systems including mesh, split sets, and bore cable bolt holes

• Minimize secondary breakage through correct ground support installation per geotechnical plans

• Install mine services when required

• Work closely with technical and supervisory teams on quality and safety initiatives

• Complete accurate end-of-shift reports

• Train and mentor trainee underground operators

• Comply with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards at all times

• Minimum secondary or tertiary level education

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in underground mining

• At least 5 years’ experience operating Jumbo Drill Rigs

• Strong knowledge of large multi-boom Jumbo Drill Rigs

• Experience with Sandvik Jumbo DD-422i is essential

• Ability to read and interpret survey prints, layouts, and ground support plans

• Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge of Jumbo Drill Rigs

• Ability to report equipment breakdowns accurately

• Valid driver’s license

• First Aid Certificate is an advantage

• Strong interpersonal and training skills

• Proven commitment to safe work procedures, quality standards, and accountability
