Operations Manager

Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML), Tanzania’s leading gold producer and a proud subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, is seeking an accomplished Operations Manager to join its world-class gold mining operation in Geita, Tanzania. Located within the Lake Victoria Goldfields, approximately 120 km from Mwanza, the Geita Gold Mine represents one of Africa’s premier open-pit and underground gold operations.

As the Operations Manager, you will oversee the full spectrum of mining activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production performance. You will drive operational excellence by integrating mine planning, geology, and engineering functions while fostering a culture of high performance, innovation, and accountability. This role is also pivotal in mentoring and developing the next generation of Tanzanian mining professionals within the AngloGold Ashanti framework.

• Develop and execute long-term (3–5 year) and annual mine plans aligned with corporate strategy

• Lead day-to-day mining operations to ensure consistent achievement of production and cost targets

• Coordinate geology, engineering, and operations teams for seamless mine plan implementation

• Optimize fleet management, maintenance, and utilization for productivity and reliability

• Oversee contractor performance to maintain the highest safety, quality, and efficiency standards

• Identify and implement continuous improvement and risk management initiatives

• Drive innovation and sustainability across operational processes

• Champion local talent development, diversity, and succession planning

• Ensure strict compliance with AngloGold Ashanti’s safety, health, and environmental policies

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related technical field (MBA or management postgraduate preferred)

• Minimum of 10 years’ mining experience, including 7+ years in senior operational leadership roles

• Demonstrated expertise in mine planning, fleet optimization, and contractor management

• Strong record of achieving safety, production, and cost-efficiency goals

• Proficiency in mining software and data-driven productivity systems

• Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring abilities
