Rome Resources Secures £1.9m to Advance Drilling at Bisie North in the DRC

Rome Resources raises £1.9m to accelerate deep tin drilling at Bisie North, advancing exploration after its maiden resource estimate.

Rome Resources has strengthened its development pipeline at the Bisie North project in the Democratic Republic of Congo by securing 1.9 million pounds through an upsized placing. The company experienced strong investor demand, allowing it to expand the size of the capital raise and ensure sufficient funding for its next phase of drilling. This financing round positions Rome to accelerate mobilisation efforts and advance its exploration strategy as it seeks to unlock deeper high grade tin zones following the release of its maiden Mineral Resource Estimate.

The fresh capital will be directed toward drilling activities targeting two priority zones, the deeper tin extensions at Kalayi and the eastern tin structures at Mont Agoma. These areas were identified as high potential during recent geological modelling, and the upcoming drill programme aims to test continuity at depth and define the scale of the mineralised system. The campaign is expected to run for three to four months and will include several deep holes designed to provide a clearer understanding of structural controls, orebody geometry and grade distribution. Mobilisation of helicopters, drilling crews and associated field infrastructure will begin shortly, enabling the programme to commence without delay.

Management has expressed confidence in the project’s trajectory, highlighting the robust technical foundations provided by the maiden resource and the strength of the targets selected for follow up drilling. CEO Paul Barrett noted that the board is particularly encouraged by the geological consistency observed so far, which suggests considerable scope for resource growth as the company continues to explore at depth and along strike. This renewed exploration push also aligns with the global tightening of tin supply and rising demand from electronics and energy related industries, increasing the strategic value of high grade tin discoveries.

If Rome succeeds in expanding the resource base and confirming deeper mineralisation at Bisie North, the project could contribute meaningfully to the DRC’s long standing position as a major tin producing region. Increased drilling success may attract further investment, accelerate project development timelines and enhance the country’s role in global critical minerals supply chains, offering broader economic benefits to both local communities and the national mining sector.

Mini Glossary

  • Placing: A method of raising capital by issuing new shares directly to selected investors.
  • Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate: The first formal calculation of the quantity and grade of mineral resources at a project.
  • Mobilisation: The process of moving personnel, equipment and supplies to a project site before drilling begins.
