Blencowe Secures New Graphite Offtake MOU for Orom-Cross Project

Blencowe signs new graphite offtake MOU with Yunasko, strengthening market interest in its Orom-Cross project in Uganda.

Blencowe Resources has strengthened the commercial outlook for its Orom-Cross graphite project in Uganda after signing an additional non-binding memorandum of understanding for the offtake of natural medium flake graphite concentrate. The agreement reflects rising market interest in the project, underpinned by consistently positive metallurgical test work and increasing engagement with downstream users seeking high quality graphite for advanced applications.

The newly signed MOU is with Yunasko, an advanced energy storage technology company, and focuses on a niche, high value segment of Orom-Cross’s medium flake graphite output. Initial volumes are set at 500 tonnes per annum, with the potential to scale up over time as the commercial relationship matures. While modest in volume, the agreement is strategically important, as it targets specialist end use markets where performance and consistency are prioritised over bulk supply.

Product quality has been validated through ongoing test work, which has demonstrated that Orom-Cross graphite meets the specifications required for higher value applications. Under the proposed arrangement, the concentrate would be further upgraded in the United States, enabling it to meet the technical requirements of advanced energy storage and other specialised industrial uses. This downstream processing pathway enhances the overall value proposition of the project.

Blencowe is also continuing discussions with original equipment manufacturers and downstream processors across the United States and Europe. Multiple qualification and test programmes are currently underway, aimed at confirming suitability across a range of end markets. The company has indicated that further MOUs are anticipated ahead of first production, supporting a diversified and resilient offtake strategy.

From a broader perspective, the expanding portfolio of potential offtake agreements positions Orom-Cross as an emerging supplier of high quality natural graphite at a time of growing global demand. For Uganda, successful development of the project could support industrial growth, skills development, and export diversification. More widely, Blencowe’s progress highlights Africa’s increasing role in supplying critical minerals for energy storage and clean technology supply chains, particularly as manufacturers seek secure and sustainable sources of graphite.
